Dyea: the Gold Rush town that vanished
Modern and historic Dyea, the 1897–98 boomtown at the foot of the Chilkoot Trail that is now nearly a ghost town.
Dyea was Skagway's rival during the Klondike Gold Rush, the starting point of the Chilkoot Trail. Today little is left but the townsite, the Slide Cemetery and the trailhead, about 9 miles from Skagway.
